Recent cost saving measures have included the controversial removal of flotation seats and life vests. They have been replaced with more kid friendly, not to mention fashionable, orange floaties. When questioned about the safety issues surrounding this recent decision, a senior Air France representative responded by saying, "Floaties have proven more reliable than the older and outdated self-inflating life vests and we feel that our passengers will appreciate the savings we are able to pass on to them while still providing the absolute highest safety standards. We are confident that our valued customers will agree, and besides, studies have proven time and again that when a plane goes down, you are far more likely to die from the impact rather than drowning."
